Degree Conferal

Great news everyone.  I received an email from LSUS that I have officially completed my degree and I now hold a Masters of Business Administration in Marketing!  It has been a long 2 years and a lot of hard work but I have officially finished.  I can now utilize my degree in the marketing field as well as the things I have learned to increase the marketability of my music business.  I could not be happier!  LSUS is a tough school and they have a difficult MBA program but you will learn a lot and I have already begun utilizing the things I have learned on a daily basis.  I am also taking a job working for SEO Technologies out of Ohio to use my skills and help others increase sales by increasing the visibility of their websites on Google.  So here goes my next adventure.  If you are interested in learning more about my business, my music, LSUS MBA program, or what I can do for you as an SEO specialist please reach out to me via email at r.reatha.pitman@gmail.com

New Year 2022!

So, it has been a while since I have posted and I apologize for that.  The pandemic sure made things more difficult and my focus shifted for a bit.  Now that we are nearing the end of the first month of 2022, I would like to take this opportunity to share what has been happening and what is coming soon.  I started running again, which I have always enjoyed, and decided I want to run my very first marathon...crazy, I know.  But I run 5 days a week and recently participated in 2 local races which were so much fun and I am looking forward to doing them again next year.  Also, I began working on my MBA in Marketing through LSUS and will be completing the program in 6 weeks...Eek!! As you can see it has been a busy time for me, but I have also been working on new music.  I have been in discussions with my producer and I will be recording new music in February so look for the release of that in March.  I cannot wait to get back into the studio to record and share my work with all of you wonderful people.  Let me know in the comments what you have been up to now that the pandemic is winding down and we are embarking on a new year!

Baby It's Cold Outside

Whew...it is for sure getting cold outside and it's hard to believe Christmas is just next week.  Can you believe it? Covid really made the year go by fast even though everything was shut down and music grinded to a halt.  I think it is safe to say that most of us are ready to relax and spend a day with our families celebrating a wonderful time of year.  I want to talk about something other than politics or covid for once!

I have started the process of reaching out to sponsors and local businesses because it is HIGH TIME I get some new music out to you folks.   I appreciate your patience as I have dealt with a lot of changes over the last couple years and I hope you're looking forward to a new EP by ME!! I know I'm excited to get new music out to all of you.

If you haven't yet taken a look around my website please do so as I've made a few changes.  If there is anything you'd like to see or not see please reach out to me and make sure you sign up for emails! Merry Christmas everyone, please stay safe and enjoy your holiday...whatever that may look like this year!

Corona Virus

So, it's been a while since I've posted.  Since my last post the whole world has gone into lockdown due to the covid-19 form of the corona virus.  I have never been worried since this started however, I'm not excited about being stuck at home with no where to go.  Since this started I have been staying busy writing new material as well as started a "live from the parlor" online music series which I hope you all have enjoyed.  I have another one coming up May 1.  This has been a learning curve for most musicians since we can't perform in public due to social distancing requirements and the like.  Let me know what you have been doing during this difficult time.

I am for sure looking forward to all things getting back to normal...or as close as possible.  I am also hoping to be performing at my upcoming shows after this next live from the parlor.  Let me know if you'd like to see these continue.  I'm thinking about keeping them every couple of weeks since they've really been fun and allow for my fans overseas to get to see me play.  Stay home y'all and stay safe.

Brand Ambassador/Sponsor

Hey everyone, I am now looking to be a brand ambassador for organizations with a product or service.  What's a Brand Ambassador you ask? In exchange for sponsorship for my next album, I would take an active roll to promote and advertise your organization.  I would post your organization/company information and share posts from your sites on all my social media sites including Facebook, Website, Instagram, and Twitter.  If you're interested please send me an email at r.reatha.pitman@gmail.com or a message on social media.  I look forward to working with you and finding a way to help your business while you help me raise the funds needed to get this album recorded and released.

Recording projects

So, I asked on all my social media if my fans wanted to see another EP or wait for a full album.  Recording music is expensive, although not as expensive as I once thought, but still pricey.  I raised money through raffles, gigs, selling merch, and crowdfunding and recorded and released my first EP roughly a year ago.  I ended up paying in the ball park of $5000 for 4 songs to be completed including all the studio time, photo's, mixing, and mastering.  I have recently been quoted $5000 for 10 songs to be recorded including mixing and mastering.  I have decided to have a hot plate fundraiser to raise this money as I think this will yield better results.  I have a number of followers and fans who all support my music but very few who actually want to financially support this endeavor.  Many musicians struggle with this as friends want to like a post or share but everyone wants to say they have no money.  What they don't understand is that if every fan, friend, family member, or follower would simply donate $2-5 there would be enough money to complete projects.  Musicians struggle to support their art and indie artists have to pay for everything themselves.  You don't have to donate large amounts and there is no minimum that is expected.  Every dollar truly counts no matter how small and if you absolutely cannot help financially be sure to share every post, event, comment, and like to be as supportive as possible.  This is a true even if you are not a fan of the genre.  Here on the Mississippi Gulf Coast we support each other regardless of genre.  Not everyone likes country or metal, etc. but we all still invite friends to like pages and share others music so that new fresh ideas are allowed the opportunity to blossom.  I look forward to reading everyone's comments and take on this blog!

New Year New Me

Hello y'all, we are now full swing into the New Year and I for one am so excited.  This year is off to a fabulous start with lots of bookings and jams scheduled.  I even booked a National Anthem event at the local fairgrounds for a kids barrel racing event.  I love kids and veterans and any time I can do something fun with them I am totally on board.  My new years celebration was so fun.  We had fireworks and great food while celebrating the end of a decade with friends and family.  Leave a comment what you did for new years eve below.

GEAUX Tigers!! So last night was the LSU-Clemson national championship game.  If you know me, you know that I love the LSU tigers.  They had a rough start but once the defense started picking it up, LSU was going to be unstoppable.  It was a great game and the stamina of the LSU team helped them to pull ahead and take the championship. So proud of the Purple and Gold and many wishes for their continued success.

This week I had a radio interview with Blackdog indie country radio station and it was fabulous.  If you missed it be sure to check it out on my facebook page at Reatha Pitman Music.  We talked about my EP, the weather, and a lot of other really fun stuff.  I think you'll really enjoy it.  So now that I updated everyone on my regular life lets talk about music.  If you have questions or topics for me to discuss on here please let me know so that I can share with everyone.  Also, I am still working on raising money for the new album so if you want to see new music from me soon, please visit my patreon account and at least consider donating $2/month.

Happy New Year Everyone!! Let's make 2020 great!!

Merry Christmas Roundup

I made it through Christmas! It was a great day spent with family and cooking.  I cooked Turkey with creole injected marinade and tony's on top, green bean casserole, sweet potato casserole, mustard greens in bacon grease, corn, mashed garlic potatoes, cranberry sauce, and rolls.  It was so delicious.  My turkey even came out moist and full of flavor.  I was definitely tired after being on my feet all day cooking but it was worth it...as it usually is.  Everyone seemed to enjoy it.  I'm actually a very good cook if I'm not trying some new crazy dish!  After dinner we opened presents and I got new pajama's, a new fitbit versa lite, some books, a snuggy, a framed picture, and a few other little things.  Christmas eve we spent the day with the other side of the family and really enjoyed that as well.  We spent quality time with each other and enjoyed a wonderful meal. I hope everyone enjoyed their Christmas's as well, or whatever holiday you celebrate.  Next holiday up is New Years.  My plans are to spend the night with family again and shoot some fireworks.  There's nothing like spending holidays with family!  This is a short wrap up but I hope everyone enjoyed the blog today.  Remember to send me topics or questions you want answered about my life or my music and I'll be sure to get them in the blog!  Happy New Year everyone!!

Christmas is coming

To start I want to say a big thank to everyone for all your support.  This will be my first of hopefully many months of blogs.  I will answer questions in emails, talk about other musicians, as well as share some news about upcoming events and happenings...I may even share some stories from my childhood and how I got to where I am today.  If you have a question to ask me please send me a message on FB, twitter, instagram, or you send me an email.

In this first post, I'm going to share a secret about me and what I do in my "free" time.  I am a huge fan of Hallmark.  I love how all their stories have happy endings and I like movies that always work out.  I hate movies that are too much like real life because I think movies should make us feel good and be a sort of escape from real life.  I have been watching the Hallmark Christmas movies since before Halloween! I know it's early but I just wanted to get into the season early this year, which if you know me, you know that I am an avid wait until after Thanksgiving for Christmas kind of gal.  I am currently watching Moonlight and Mistletoe which star Candice Cameron Burre.  I just love watching her.  I think she's a fabulous actress.

So Christmas is coming and I have all but a few gifts left to buy and those have been identifies, I just have to go pay for them.  I'm never this early with the gift buying.  I am always a last minute shopper but this year I have been really on top of my game.  Christmas is my favorite time of year and I love the lights and carols, and Christmas parties.  There's just something about the season and I truly believe that miracles happen at Christmas.  The season is flying by and there are only 6 days left.  This year has been nice but I'm not sure it really feels like Christmas and I'm not sure why but hopefully it will improve before Christmas day arrives.

This blog is going to be short but I hope that everyone has a very MERRY CHRISTMAS and look for another post around New Year's.  Don't forget to send me any questions for me you want me to answer!
